Mitchell began his martial arts journey in 2009 while on deployment to Kuwait, training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with fellow troops in the area. This led him to join an MMA gym, where he quickly began to gravitate toward the grappling aspect of the sport. He trained inconsistently for a few years, dabbling in powerlifting and strength sports, leading him to pursue a Bachelors of Science in exercise science and become a Strength and Conditioning Specialist in the process. With a renewed passion for the grappling arts, has been training consistently the past 5 years, coaching classes and helping others with their strength and conditioning along the way, earning his brown belt January 2021.
